What is the Body Stress Release technique?

Sometimes the body(-mind) holds on to pain because the initial cause, the ongoing tension and the repercussions have overwhelmed your body’s natural ability to heal itself. Body Stress Release (or BSR) is a gentle bodywork technique that helps your body release tension and let go.

The BSR technique uses a very precise pattern of ‘releases’ that re-engage the brain with areas of the body where tension has become stuck or chronic. These releases are done as a slight pressure or impulse using the thumb or fingers, and they feel good! BSR is a safe technique that can be used across all ages and levels of health.

I have a certificate in Humanistic counselling from the Gestalt Centre in London. Some clients benefit most from combining talking with hands-on therapy.

I am a Level 1 certified clinical somatics teacher and use this along with polyvagal theory, breathwork, qiqong and pilates to provide you with a set of tools to keep yourself feeling good in your skin.

No matter how unfit, unmotivated or unlucky you believe you are – and no matter your age – your body is willing and wonderfully able to let go, get better, get stronger and pain free.

We’ll work by taking your story into account. In a completely real sense, we are our bodies and everything we’ve been through is there with us and in how we communicate about it.

After an obvious trauma – like a fall – or a not so obvious trauma – like an accident in childhood or an emotionally traumatic past incident – the body responds in the same way: by sending us messages of pain and by tensing up, protecting. The mind may eventually disconnect from that pain, but the tension (whether in the mind or the body) perhaps remains and we suffer the consequences.

Some issues are resolved quickly, some take more time. I recommend a minimum 3 sessions to give your body-mind the best chance to respond and change. I offer all my clients an introductory package at £120 made up of an initial hour-long session and two half hour sessions.

£40 – £80 depending on session length and type.
